I have training in many therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy. I have a strong foundation in Family System’s Theory and am highly influenced by Attachment Theory.
Although these principals inform my work with couples and individuals, I do not believe that “one size fits all” in therapy. My diverse training and experience enables me to offer a variety of techniques and approaches which foster change and growth for my clients.
I am very compassionate and approach my work with clients with great respect for their inner strengths. I am deeply committed to helping clients identify and draw upon their internal resources, creating solutions that lead to feelings of empowerment and personal ownership. I believe in providing therapy that is identified as current best practices. To ensure this commitment I attend conferences, read journals, and meet with others for supervision and peer consultation regularly.
In working with children and youth I use a variety of tools that help to engage them creatively in the therapeutic process. In working with all clients I have a strong regard for collaboration and throughout the therapeutic relationship we discuss the course of treatment to continually foster recovery.
